Cathedral Abseil 10/08/18

Gordon and Sal set off from home, at 7.00 a.m. on Friday 18th August, to get Sal to Liverpool Cathedral in time to check in for an opportunity to Abseil down the front of the building! A drop of 150ft.

For 12 days she had been collecting sponsors, to sponsor her to do this crazy thing, in order to help raise funds for “The Lighthouse” (St. Marks’ new Annexe).

The appointed time for the Abseil was 8.42 a.m. but they had to get there half an hour beforehand. In the event they got there slightly early so she sat, for about 10 minutes, besides the young lady who was going to come down next to her.

All too soon, they were being helmeted, gloved and dressed in harnesses and then it was time to go!

To get to the starting platform they were escorted up in a lift before they crossed to a steep narrow staircase which took them up to the platform from which they were to launch themselves!  The view from the top was amazing!

However, there was little time to admire it before they were being instructed as to what to do as they began their decent!

From then on it was down, down, down and 10 minutes later it was all over

Sal would like to say a massive

“THANK YOU”

to everyone who supported her

and sponsored her.

At the time of writing, you have helped her raise nearly £700 towards “The Lighthouse”!
