Sunday 8th July 2018 saw the second day of the Scarisbrick Marina Festival and Open Weekend. The day was very warm and sunny with many visitors on the site enjoying the events and refreshments.
The All Churches Morning Service took place here accompanied by the Marshside Brass Band.
The congregation was a mix of people from local churches and visitors, with some 50 to 60 people joining in, and in good voice.
Andy the St Marks Church Reader led the service, during which others participated.
Jules read from the Gospel of Mathew, when Jesus cleanses a leper and the healing of the centurion’s servant.
The Reverend Eileen spoke about today’s celebrities and asked, “Will they be remembered tomorrow?” We were reminded how Jesus has love which is everlasting, changing so many lives. We remember the Son of God, He is here to stay with us.
John, from the Bescar Lane Methodist Church, and his young grandson Fred led us in prayers. – John reminding us how we can freely meet together to praise our God, without fear of consequences. Fred prayed for the children trapped in a cave in Thailand and for all children who are anxious about school.
Andy continued the service, with our final and offertory hymn providing a collection to go to Queens Court Hospice.
