The Carol Service at The Good Shepherd Mission

The Good Shepherd Mission had been beautifully bedecked before the Carol Service, which was held there at 3.00 p.m. on Sunday 10th December.

As this was the second Sunday of Advent, the service began with the lighting of the first and second candles in the Advent Ring. – the first to symbolise “hope” and the second to symbolise “peace”.

Andy led the service [and also managed to elicit a few groans when he mingled a few “jokes” with the proceedings!?!]

The service consisted of lovely Christmas carols (accompanied on the organ by Alan). These ranged from “Once in Royal David’s City” to “O come all ye faithful” and, interspersed as they were with Bible readings, combined to tell the story of the first Christmas.

After the service, coffee and mince pies were served for any who could stay.

all the readers,

Alan for playing the organ,

and everybody who came along

because without you there would have been no Carols at all!

(and of course thank you to the providers of the refreshments and Walter for the photos.)
