Was the Christingle service on Christmas Eve led by a shepherd and a lamb this
Or was it led by the Rev. Eileen dressed as a character from the Nativity story?
Everybody who had come dressed in character was invited to go to the front of the
church. There were quite a lot of them!
During the service carols, both old and new, were sung and prayers were lead by
children from St. Mark’s School.
Everyone enjoyed the sermon, which encouraged people to shout out whenever a chocolate bar was mentioned. This was rewarded by a chocolate bar being thrown into the congregation!
Then people went up with their Children Society, candle-shaped moneyboxes, which they exchanged for Christingle oranges!
When everybody was back in their seats, the candles were lit by The Rev. Eileen, Marjorie and Paul.
The climax of the service was when the main lights were turned off and all sang the beautiful Silent Night.
