On Saturday 17th November 2018, St. Mark’s Church held their Winter Fair in The Village Hall. It ran from 2.00 p.m. until 4.00 p.m.
As usual, the cake stall did very well – it even had people waiting to buy before the fair opened! They also had a great looking fruit cake that you could win if you correctly guessed its weight.
The raffle did well too, with many books sold before the fair and the remainder quickly sold out on the day. [We could have sold more if we had them!]
The bookstall was well stocked with a good choice of reading.
We are not sure who let this shyster in…
…. but it has to be said that he drew a good crowd with his bottle stall and tumbling penguins!
The Gift stall was full to bursting with lots of ideas for Christmas presents.
The Brownies ran an interesting stall;
vegetables were plentiful, good value too,
people liked the idea of picking a number which might be “the bonus ball” and winning £10…..
…. and they even had an opportunity to buy the St. Mark’s unique, limited edition Christmas cards!
The refreshments consisted of cakes, coffee, tea and juice. This gave people a chance to sit and enjoy the company of friends and people that they may not have seen for a while!
The fair ended with everyone checking tickets and listening for names as they discovered who had won the various prizes!
Everybody seemed to enjoy the occasion, which raised £1,050 for the church. Well done to everyone who attended and all those who worked so hard to make it such a success!
Thank you to Joan and Walter for reporting on this event and providing the photographs.
